This statement of publication ethics outlines the ethical standards for all parties involved in the publication process of this scientific journal—namely, the publisher, editors, reviewers, and authors. The Code of Ethics upholds three core ethical values in publication:
(i) Neutrality — being free from conflicts of interest in publication management;
(ii) Fairness — granting authorship rights to those who deserve to be recognized as authors; and
(iii) Honesty — being free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism in publications.

  2. The publisher is responsible for ensuring academic freedom for editors and reviewers in carrying out their duties.

Publication Ethics for Authors

  1. Reporting Standards:
Authors must present accurate reports of original research conducted and provide an objective discussion of its significance. Research data must be represented truthfully without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate manipulation. The manuscript must include sufficient detail and references to allow replication. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior.
  2. Originality and Plagiarism:
Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are entirely original. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one publication simultaneously is unethical. Relevant previous work, whether by other researchers or by the authors themselves, must be properly cited. Direct quotations must be clearly marked and appropriately referenced.
  3. Multiple or Concurrent Publication:
Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Duplicate publication of a research project must be clearly identified and referenced to the primary publication.
  4. Acknowledgment of Sources:
Proper acknowledgment of others’ work must always be given. Authors must cite all sources that have influenced their research.
  5. Authorship of the Paper:
Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All those who have made substantial contributions should be listed as co-authors. Those with minor contributions should be acknowledged. All co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.
  6. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest:
Authors must disclose any financial or substantive conflict of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the research must be disclosed.
  7. Fundamental Errors in Published Works:
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor or publisher and cooperate to retract or correct the paper.

Publication Ethics for Editors

  1. Publication Decisions:
Editors are responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be published based on the reviewers’ reports. The editor’s decisions must always be guided by the validity of the work and its significance to researchers and readers. Editors must act in accordance with journal policies and relevant legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.
  2. Manuscript Review:
Editors must ensure that each submission is initially evaluated for originality. They must organize and use peer reviews fairly and wisely, clearly explaining the review process in the author guidelines. Reviewers should be chosen for their expertise and objectivity.
  3. Fair Play:
Editors must evaluate manuscripts solely on their intellectual content without discrimination based on gender, race, religion, or nationality of the authors. Editors must uphold independence and integrity in their editorial duties.
  4. Confidentiality:
Editors must ensure that information regarding submitted manuscripts is kept confidential. They must carefully assess any potential data protection or confidentiality breaches.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest:
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the author’s written consent. Editors must recuse themselves from decisions where conflicts of interest exist.

Publication Ethics for Reviewers

  1. Confidentiality:
Information about submitted manuscripts must be kept confidential and treated as privileged information. It must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.
  2. Acknowledgment of Sources:
Reviewers must ensure that authors have properly cited all relevant sources. Reviewers should notify the journal of any ethical concerns, significant similarities, or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and other published works.
  3. Objectivity Standards:
Reviews should be conducted objectively, with reviewers expressing their views clearly and supported by arguments. Constructive feedback should be provided to help authors improve their manuscripts.
  4. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest:
Information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers must not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.
  5. Timeliness:
Reviewers should respond within a reasonable time frame. If a reviewer cannot complete the review within the agreed time, they should inform the editor immediately so that another reviewer can be assigned.
