Focus and Scope

Samawa: Journal of Islamic Family Law is a scholarly journal dedicated to the study, development, and dissemination of research in the field of Islamic family law and related legal studies. The journal provides a platform for academics, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to discuss contemporary issues, theoretical perspectives, and practical developments within Islamic legal systems.

The journal welcomes original research articles, conceptual papers, and literature reviews in the following areas:

  1. Islamic Family Law
    Studies on the principles, theories, practices, and contemporary developments of Islamic family law, including family relations, legal reforms, family rights and obligations, and comparative family law studies.
  2. Marriage Law
    Research concerning marriage regulations, matrimonial rights and responsibilities, marital disputes, divorce, reconciliation, child custody, marriage registration, and contemporary challenges in Islamic marriage law.
  3. Inheritance Law
    Studies focusing on Islamic inheritance (faraid), estate distribution, wills (wasiyyah), grants (hibah), inheritance disputes, legal reform, and comparative perspectives on inheritance systems.
  4. Islamic Civil Law
    Studies related to civil legal matters within Islamic jurisprudence, including contracts, property rights, legal transactions, dispute resolution, and the implementation of Islamic civil law in contemporary society.

Through these areas, the journal aims to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and critical discourse on Islamic family and civil law at local, national, and international levels.
