KASBANA: Journal of Sharia Economic Law is committed to ensuring transparency, objectivity, and integrity throughout the research, peer-review, and publication processes. All authors, editors, and reviewers are required to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that may influence their judgment or professional responsibilities.
1. Definition of Conflict of Interest
A conflict of interest occurs when personal, professional, financial, institutional, or other relationships may influence, or reasonably appear to influence, the objectivity and impartiality of research, manuscript evaluation, or editorial decisions.
Conflicts of interest may include, but are not limited to:
- Financial interests: Employment, consultancy, funding, honoraria, ownership, or other financial relationships that may be affected by the publication.
- Professional or institutional relationships: Employment at the same institution, supervisory relationships, collaborations, or other professional connections with the authors.
- Personal relationships: Family relationships, close friendships, personal disputes, or other relationships that may compromise impartiality.
- Academic or intellectual interests: Strong professional positions, competing research interests, or other commitments that may affect objective assessment.
2. Responsibilities of Authors
Authors must disclose any relevant conflicts of interest when submitting a manuscript. They must also disclose financial support, grants, or sponsorship related to the research.
If no conflict of interest exists, authors should include the following statement in their manuscript:
"The authors declare that there is no conflict of interest regarding the publication of this article."
The disclosure of a conflict of interest does not automatically result in manuscript rejection. The editorial team will assess the nature and relevance of the disclosed interest and determine whether further action is necessary.
3. Responsibilities of Editors
Editors must make editorial decisions objectively and independently, based on the manuscript's scholarly quality, originality, relevance, and compliance with publication ethics.
Editors who have a conflict of interest concerning a submitted manuscript must disclose it and withdraw from handling that manuscript. Another qualified editor will be assigned to manage the review and editorial decision-making process.
4. Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest before accepting a review assignment. They should decline to review a manuscript if personal, professional, institutional, financial, or academic relationships could compromise their impartiality.
Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively and maintain confidentiality throughout the peer-review process.
5. Editorial Handling and Transparency
KASBANA will assess disclosed conflicts of interest and take appropriate measures to protect the fairness and integrity of the publication process. Such measures may include assigning an independent editor or reviewer, requesting additional disclosures, or taking other appropriate steps.
Conflict-of-interest declarations will be handled transparently and in accordance with the journal's editorial policies and applicable ethical standards.
KASBANA is committed to maintaining an impartial publication process and ensuring that editorial and peer-review decisions are not improperly influenced by undisclosed interests.
