Allegation of research misconduct

KASBANA: Journal of Sharia Economic Law is committed to maintaining academic integrity, research ethics, and responsible scholarly publishing. The journal takes all allegations of research misconduct seriously and handles them fairly, objectively, and confidentially.

1. Types of Research Misconduct

Research misconduct may include, but is not limited to:

  1. Plagiarism: Using another person's ideas, words, data, or research findings without proper acknowledgment.
  2. Data Fabrication: Inventing data, research results, or evidence that were not obtained through actual research.
  3. Data Falsification: Manipulating research materials, data, methods, or results in a way that misrepresents the research findings.
  4. Duplicate Publication: Republishing substantially the same work without appropriate disclosure or justification.
  5. Authorship Misconduct: Inappropriately including or excluding authors, or misrepresenting individual contributions to the research.
  6. Citation Manipulation: Inappropriately manipulating citations to distort the scholarly record or artificially increase citation counts.
  7. Ethical Violations: Failing to comply with applicable research ethics requirements, including the unauthorized use of confidential information or research involving human participants without required ethical safeguards.

2. Reporting Allegations

Allegations of research misconduct may be submitted to the editorial office by authors, reviewers, readers, researchers, or other concerned parties. Reports should include sufficient information and supporting evidence to enable an initial assessment.

All allegations will be treated seriously, regardless of the identity or position of the person making the report. The journal will protect the confidentiality of the reporting party and other individuals involved to the extent reasonably possible.

3. Investigation Procedures

Upon receiving an allegation, the Editor-in-Chief or an authorized editorial representative will conduct a preliminary assessment to determine whether the allegation warrants further investigation.

Where appropriate, the journal may:

  1. Examine the submitted manuscript, published article, research data, references, and relevant documentation.
  2. Request an explanation or supporting evidence from the author or other parties concerned.
  3. Consult members of the Editorial Board, independent experts, or relevant research institutions.
  4. Refer the matter to the author's institution or other appropriate authority when the allegation requires investigation beyond the journal's authority.

The individuals concerned will ordinarily be given a reasonable opportunity to respond to the allegations before an editorial decision is made. The scope and duration of an investigation will depend on the nature and seriousness of the allegation and the evidence available.

4. Editorial Actions

If research misconduct is established or the available evidence warrants corrective action, KASBANA may take one or more of the following measures:

  • Reject the manuscript if it is still under consideration.
  • Request corrections or additional clarification where the issue can be appropriately resolved.
  • Publish a correction, expression of concern, or retraction notice for an already published article, as appropriate.
  • Suspend or restrict further editorial processing when necessary to protect the integrity of the publication process.
  • Notify the relevant institution or authority when warranted by the findings.

Any action will be proportionate to the seriousness of the misconduct and consistent with the journal's publication ethics policies. Retraction or correction decisions will be communicated transparently, with appropriate links to the affected article where applicable.

5. Confidentiality and Fair Treatment

KASBANA will handle allegations and investigation materials confidentially, disclose information only when necessary for a fair investigation or required by applicable rules, and avoid premature conclusions before the available evidence has been assessed.

The journal will seek to protect the rights and reputations of all parties involved. A report of suspected misconduct will not, by itself, be treated as proof that misconduct has occurred.

6. Prevention and Commitment to Research Integrity

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research and manuscripts comply with accepted standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. Reviewers and editors must report credible concerns about possible misconduct to the editorial office.

KASBANA is committed to addressing research misconduct responsibly, preserving the integrity of the scholarly record, and promoting ethical research and publication practices in the field of Sharia economic law.
