This study discusses learning motivation as a key factor in educational success by examining the perspectives of modern psychology and the classical Islamic intellectual tradition. The method employed is library research through the analysis of relevant primary and secondary literature. The findings reveal that learning motivation in modern psychology emphasizes aspects of needs, emotions, and environment, while the classical Islamic tradition highlights intention, enthusiasm, perseverance, and blessing; both perspectives affirm that motivation is an essential requirement for educational achievement. The study also underscores the relevance of the views of Az-Zarnuji and Imam al-Shafi‘i to contemporary educational conditions, particularly in addressing the issue of low learning motivation in Indonesia. The implication of this research is the need for an integrative model of learning motivation that combines modern psychological theories with classical Islamic values to strengthen the quality of national education.
