Abstract

The community assistance program on maggot (Black Soldier Fly larvae) cultivation in Bajuran Village, Cermee Sub-district, was implemented as a socio-economic empowerment initiative based on the circular economy concept. Maggot cultivation was introduced as both a household organic waste management solution and a new income source for villagers. Using a participatory approach, the program included technical training, waste management, and product marketing. Results indicate improved community knowledge, skills, and awareness of circular waste management, along with potential increases in household income through maggot use as animal feed and a marketable commodity. This study highlights that integrating circular economy principles into community empowerment offers a sustainable strategy to enhance local welfare.
