Abstract

Koleman is a tradition of inviting or attending wedding invitations in several village areas in Java. In the koleman tradition, there are two activities that resemble the grant and debt agreements. The location of the research was in Maskuning Village, Pujer District, Bondowoso Regency. The purpose of this study was to identify the harmony and contradiction of the two agreements in the koleman tradition. The research method used was a qualitative approach with a case study type. The results of the study showed that 1). There is harmony related to the grant agreement according to the Syafi'i school of thought with the tradition of giving gifts in the koleman tradition 2). The debt agreement theorized by Imam Syaf'i'i does not have harmony in the koleman tradition. Where the giver of the gift does not intend to give a debt to the bride and groom.
