Abstract

This legal counseling program was motivated by the low level of public understanding regarding the waiting period (iddah) for divorced widowers, as regulated in the Circular Letter of the Director General of Islamic Community Guidance No. 2 of 2024. The lack of knowledge has the potential to cause marriage practices that are inconsistent with Islamic legal principles and prevailing regulations. The activity was carried out in Mangaran Village using counseling and participatory dialogue methods involving community leaders, village officials, and the productive-age group. The pre-test results indicated that most participants had little knowledge of the waiting period regulation, while the post-test results showed a significant improvement in both understanding and legal awareness. This program proved effective in enhancing community legal literacy and is recommended to be replicated in other areas with similar conditions.
